“You are your best thing.” Toni Morrison

Compassion: This means compassion for others, but also compassion for yourself. Therapy is meant to be a judgment free zone, a place where you can feel heard and know that you can express yourself without shame.

Growth: Maya Angelou said, “Do the best you can until you know better, then when you know better, do better.” Part of growth is trusting that we are doing the best we are capable of in that moment, and also being open to the possibility that we can continue to learn and transform what our best looks like. This is part of being human.

Curiosity: When we explore with a lens of curiosity, we take the judgment away. We may feel inclined to judge ourselves for our past, our behaviors, or our feelings. When we use a lens of judgment in self reflection, then we hinder the opportunity for growth and self compassion.
